Hani Merei, P.Eng.

President

Hani has over 20 years of experience in engineering and construction management, the last 13 of which have been focused on smart hospital technology systems and integration. He played integral roles in some of the largest hospital construction projects in Canada, including Toronto’s Humber River Hospital, Calgary Cancer Centre, and the New Surrey Hospital, where he contributed to low voltage systems and integration design development, installation planning and monitoring, and commissioning management. His practical approach to technology innovations is client-oriented, with special emphasis on constructability and maintainability.

Michelle Thornley, RN, BScN, MHS

Clinical Consultant

Michelle is an experienced clinical consultant and nurse with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field. Throughout her extensive career, Michelle has worked in various settings, including acute care, provincial consultant on clinical quality, and clinical consultant on global innovation. She possesses a deep expertise in clinical process integration, process improvement, knowledge in standards of practice, and accreditation compliance. She is dedicated to enhancing healthcare quality and safety, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to every project.

David Gallagher, M.Eng., P.Eng., CEM

Smart Buildings Consultant

David is a Professional Engineer with 15 years of experience specializing in developing Energy Management and Smart Buildings programs. His extensive career includes significant leadership roles at Oxford Properties, teaching at BCIT, and advising TELUS and the Canadian Federal Government on their smart building strategies. His expertise spans various building applications, including office, residential, retail, hotel, industrial, and hospitals, with projects across Canada, the US, Europe, and Australia. David is passionate about integrating technology in hospitals to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Chul Chang, PMP, P.Eng, ACP

Technology Project Manager

Chul is a solution-focused project engineer with proven experience leading cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of highly complex projects while achieving business goals. His technical know-how approach employing modern agile project management techniques ensures the highest return on investment for project stakeholders. Chul’s experiences include managing electrical and technology systems design and implementation for the New St. Paul Hospital in Vancouver.

Shaema Mathew, M.Eng., EIT

Technology Designer

Shaema is an energetic engineering designer with 5 years of experience in academic research and development in the field of renewable energy. She is a detail-oriented hospital communications, security, and technology systems designer involved in several hospital projects, including New Surrey Hospital, Red Deer Hospital, and Dawson Creek District Hospital.
